Highly aesthetic crowns on implants – Venеer abutment

Image

That type of crowns are metal free and mainly used on patients with highly aesthetic requirements. Usually are used for restoration with a single front tooth implant. In such case we use ceramic crowns or lithium disilicate. They on the other hand have a certain transparency giving them a natural look which leads to a problem when cemented with standard abutments – gray tint in the crown due to transparency of the superstructure.

In order to hide the gray superstructure, a specific superstructure called Veneer abutment is invented. It can be hand made or even digitally created in CAD/CAM system by applying opaque porcelain on the standard superstructure or cementing a ceramic cap, colored in the color of the adjacent teeth. That way a fundament of a crown is created, imitating dentin and as close as possible vision to the natural tooth.
