Partial hybrid ceramic crowns – inlay, onlay, overlay
Inlays, onlays and overlays are essentially partial crowns as they differ in the area o the tooth they cover.
Inleys are the smallest and overleys cover the largest area. With the development in the last few years of so-called hybrid ceramics and the focus of dentists on maximum micro-invasiveness, this type of crown is increasingly being made.
Hybrid ceramics are extremely interesting materials. They are a photopolymer matrix that acts as a skeleton and ceramics as a filler, thus combining the strength and toughness of ceramics and the microelasticity of polymer materials.
This type of ceramics is also called Forse absorbing because it can absorb some of the chewing forces and thus protect the teeth from breaking. They are available in the form of ready-made ceramic blocks for CAD/CAM machines, from which the half crowns are cut. They can be painted with special paints to further individualize and adjust the color. They are adhesively bonded (like fillings) to the enamel and are a modern, micro-invasive, aesthetic and extremely precise restoration of the patient‘s teeth without additional filing.
Fabrication: from 3 hours (CAD/CAM) to 10 days (dental technician) with 1 or 3 visits to the dental center
